Feeling...$^@% sleepy

It's 9.15 in the morning and I'm in the office. What could be more worse than that on a Monday? There's supposed to be a meeting at 9 which hasn't started yet. How could I forget I work with morons who obviously haven't learned how to tell the time as well. Eyes hurt, head hurts, mood grouchy from total lack of sleep. Grrr...

And since I didn't blog over the weekend, here's a quick run-down on the reason why:

Friday
Go home.
Turn on computer.
Windows crashes.
Realise the genius that is me didn't make a rescue boot disk.
Can't recover files.
Go drown sorrows in alcohol.
Get absolutely drunk.

Saturday
Hangover.
Hangover.
Hangover.
Cards at a friend's place.
An alcohol-free day.

Sunday
Early morning wake-up call from friend who just arrived back from China.
Chat with her awhile.
Then go back to sleep.
Meet later for lunch.
Then drinks (yes, of the alcoholic kind).
Then cards again.
Pass CPU to another friend in the hope that some magic can be done so that some of my files can be salvaged.

And it's Monday again.

Feeling...[shrug]

"The hardest thing in this world is to live in it."
[Buffy, BTVS "The Gift", season 5 finale]

How true.

How absolutely true.

...
Feeling...unmotivated

I've decided I will quit.

Eventually.

Soon.

I know only losers quit.

So, I'm a loser then.

To hell with it.

Feeling...lethargic

After a while you just give up.

All I can think about is home, a nice hot dinner and some TV.

Then Heng calls and says the magic word: Guinness.

It looks like those earlier plans (except for the dinner bit) would have to wait...

Feeling...violent

[pulling hair out] Arggggggghhhhhh! I'm seriously surrounded by stupid people in my office. Where were these morons when God was giving out brains?!?

When I get a brief, I expect the person who's giving the brief to know what's going on. I expect the person to be able to answer questions I may have. After all, if that person is giving the brief, he/she should know what it is they're briefing me about! What I do not expect are "I don't knows" every two or three sentences! Heeeello. If you don't know it, you expect me to? Who's the one being briefed here? [rolls eyes]

Feeling...the water in my ears

Problem no.1: I've got an extra ticket to the philharmonic for Sunday.

Problem no.2: My mobile phone address book has only so many guy names.

Not that I need to ask a guy. But it would be nice.

Time to put some plans into action. Whatever those plans may be...

And if all else fails, maybe I'll just ask Heng.

Feeling...grumpy

...because the weekend's almost over...

There really should be 3-day weekends. And while we're at it, why not switch it the other way around: work 2 days a week and the rest of the other 5 days, we rest.

What a terribly good idea...

Feeling...totally cock-eyed

I forgot how totally stressful an editor's job can be. Especially when you're trying to decipher what the author is trying to say and most of the time the sentences just don't make sense! You resist the urge to rewrite the line for them 'cos that just doesn't work because it means messing with their style.

I've just gone through 20+ pages of a review for spcnet (and that's just for one particular series!) Believe me when I say it was hard, hard work. I'll very likely have to look it over one more time before it's ready for posting and already I'm dreading it. My neck is sore, my eyes are blurry and I think I feel the beginnings of a headache.

There's no one else to blame but myself though. After all, I did volunteer to help with the editing...

Feeling...so very 'productive'

I've done shit-all in the office today. That is, unless you consider spending the whole day downloading wallpapers to beautify my comp desktop, work.

I guess not.

But can I be bothered? What's that word they love using here?

Ah. Pro-active.

Be pro-active.

Yawn. Does that answer it?

Feeling...brrrr...c-c-cold

It's freezing in here [in case you're wondering where here is, here = the office]. Should have known better and brought a jacket along to work today. It was already freezing yesterday but when your brain is so totally frozen up, you tend not to know better.

Anyway, after much cussing and swearing and banging of keyboard and mouse, they finally changed my computer for me. No great shakes but at least it's no longer that miserable Celeron.

Oh and I just heard some disturbing news too. Apparently our biggest client still hasn't signed the contract with our agency. My guess is, if they don't sign it soon they probably aren't going to sign at all and I probably, very likely won't have a job very soon too.

I don't know whether to be happy or worried...

Feeling...rich

Feeling...busy

Well, I'm not exactly. Busy, that is.

But that's what I'm feeling at the moment. So there. I'm also feeling cantankerous (yes, again!), moody, irritated, uncreative, useless, lazy and can't be bothered.

Oh. And there's also the total disrespect that I currently feel for my boss.

Sigh.

It's just a job. It's just a job.

TGIF.

Feeling...ener-buffy&angel-gised!

Managed to make it back home in time to watch my two favourite shows on earth.

While Buffy was all tense and angsty (what with Tara being totally incoherent, Giles hurt with an arrow, Willow all powerful and scary, and Dawn being captured by Glory), Angel was a nice change with all the funny bits. I must say it is certainly very refreshing to see this new side of Angel. What a laugh to see a 200-year old vampire being thrilled to the bone that the sun didn't effect him in the green guy's dimension! And Cordelia gets to be queen/ruler??! Argh! [pulls hair out] I can't wait for next week's episode!

Wednesday, September 11, 2002

I just realised what date it is today.

How many of you thought the world was going to end this time last year as you watched the Hollywood-like-yet-totally-real and horrifying scene of atrocity against humankind unfold before your eyes?

But the world didnt end.

And here we are a year later. We remember.

Feeling...cantankerous

I hate my office.

The sense of not belonging is so overwealming it totally drowns out everything else. Damn. How long has it been? It feels like forever and I'm still sitting in the corridor. Bluddy feels as though I'm the first attraction at the zoo. The other newbies get new tables, new computers, proper places to park themselves. And me? I get to stare at everyone who walks into the office.

Great.

Just great.

I hate my office.

I really, really, really hate my office.

Feeling...like a stupid fool

I just realised I've been doing that diet thingy all wrong. Argh. 4oz is 0.25lbs, not 0.5lbs. Which means I've been eating twice as much as I should have. No wonder I haven't lost the weight it says I'm supposed to! Arghhhhhhh...what an idiot, what an idiot.

Feeling...lazy

Was just going through the list of mp3s I have on this hard disk of mine. What if I were to burn a CD of my favourites for the year? What would be the songs on the list? Hmmm...I think, for the moment, my top 20 list (in no particular order) would look something like the below...

Let's fall in love - David Tao
Moon over my heart - David Tao
Day and night - Sandy Lam, Jacky Cheung
Straightforward - Stefanie Sun
Don't ask - Stefanie Sun
Rosemary - Denise Ho
Angelic blue - Denise Ho
Like to be loved - Candy Lo
Please break up - Candy Lo

I wish tomorrow was the weekend again...

Feeling...a little weird

He: Come to think of it, we really should be going out with each other.
Me: Do you think we'd last though?

It's funny how when both parties think the same right down to the can or cannot. We're alike in so many ways sometimes it scares me. It really seems as though we were meant for each other. Yet somehow, there is that barrier there, and we both know it.

I don't understand it. I doubt he understands it too.

The only thing that's clear to us is that we're merely friends. Very good friends. And nothing more.

Feeling...relieved

It's the weekend! It's the weekend!

Well, not yet. But it is Friday! Yes! Yes! Yes!

Having dinner with Heng later (as soon as he gets off work). We're going to that place with that cute owner [hehehe] . I know it's my bad. Me having dinner with one guy while at the same time hoping to see the other guy. Of course Heng doesn't know that. He just thinks I want to go to that restaurant cos I want to try out the food!

Feeling...accomplished

Uh huh.

I've added a comments bit to my blog. And I did it all by myself. I think that deserves a pat on the back. [yes yes.]

Shrug.

When you're bored, you find ways to amuse yourself.

So anyway, since the comments thingy is here now [there...at the bottom of this post, next to the time], go write something...anything.

Feeling...clueless

I've been staring at this job for days. And still I can't think of anything to do for it.

Am I losing my touch?

Am I on the verge of burn out?

Am I already a has-been?

Aiyo.

Headache. Headache. Headache.

Feeling...anxious

Weighed myself again. Still haven't lost any pounds yet. Tomorrow's the 3rd and last day of the diet. I am so going to lose all 10 pounds in one day.

Riiiiiiiiiiight.

Feeling...determined

Well, today's the second day of my 3-day diet.

So far so good.

The menu yesterday consisted of tea, 1 slice of toast and 2 teaspoons of peanut butter for breakfast; tea, 4oz of tuna in water and a slice of toast for lunch; and a cold slice of chicken, 4oz of beetroot, a cup of long beans, 4oz of ice-cream and a small apple for dinner.

Today I started with tea, a half-boiled egg and a slice of toast for breakfast. Lunch consists of 4oz of plain cottage cheese and 5 Ritz biscuits, which I've packed and brought along to work. Dinner, I forget.

Anyway, I'm to strictly follow this pre-set menu for three days, which at the end of it should see me losing up to 10 pounds. [shrug] I weighed myself this morning and so far I haven't lost any of those pounds yet. We'll just have to wait and see again at the end of these 3 days.

Feeling...star strucked

Just got back from the pre-screen of So Close. Karen Mok was there gracing the event with her presence. And what a presence it was. She's definitely one of the two women* I would very likely turn gay for. Even more so as I watched the movie. Boy. What style, what attitude. I think I'm in love...

* The other one being Flora Chan

Feeling...bored

I've finally got a computer at work. Not that I'm jumping for joy. It's a bloody Celeron processor (who in the world still uses Celerons these days? rolls eyes.) And it's a bloody hand-me-down too. Everybody gets a brand new P4 (my partner gets a brand new G4!) while I'm stuck with an obsolete piece of junk with a shot keyboard. It just goes to show how 'important' they deem writers to be in this f-ed up place.

Sigh.

But at least now I'm online during the day and I can look busy. Ha!
