Feeling...a little calmer
Lost my temper with that stupid account director today.
I can't stand her. I can't stand her voice. I can't stand the sight of her. Damn. Did she sleep her way up to her position or what? She doesn't even know the basics of account management! Geesh. An account director telling a whole meeting room that she's merely a messenger. *Hello*. [rolls eyes]. An account director who writes on the job brief: 'Client wants to shoot a Chinese New Year commercial in December. Please proceed to develop concepts for print and TV. Thank you.' *Hello.* [rolls eyes]. I was totally speechless when I got that job brief. Where was the objective? Where was the strategy? Where was anything? Geesh. Even a fresh out of school account executive knows what a job brief such include!
This is seriously one woman who forgot to get into queue when the powers that be were dishing out brains.
And today, boy, did I blow my top at her.
Here's an excerpt of our not too civil conversation:
Me: It seems to me that you don't really know what you're doing and the clients don't know what they're doing!
She: No, I don't know! No one ever knows anyway! That's how it works!
Me: Well, if you don't know what you're doing, how is it you expect me to know what it is you want me to do?!?
And towards the end, she storms off saying that if I'm not happy to go complain to my boss. Which I shouted after her that I would and that she didn't need to teach me to do so.
Fuming away (I could seriously feel smoke coming out of my ears!), I went up to my totally useless boss and told him I have had it up to my neck with everything. Told him what transpired and told him that I thought the agency was totally fucked up.
And yes, 'this agency is totally fucked up' were my exact words.
All he did was nod at me.
Sigh.
I give up.
I really don't care anymore. And anyway, what I said is the truth so my conscience is clear. I'm just glad I got it off my chest. In my entire career I have never come across an agency such as this. This place is a serious joke. The MD is a chicken-shit who lets the client walk all over us. He would make us eat shit if the client asked us to just to please them. The ECD is stuck in the 70s and cares more about layout and the colour of the ad than he is about idea and concept. The ACD (my boss) is the ECD's lackey who doesn't dare say 'B' if the bosses say 'A'.
Idiots and morons.
They can fire me for all I care.
I just can't wait to get out.
