It's no fun being a lady of leisure when all your friends are working.

There's nobody to do the lady of leisurely things with like having afternoon teas or manicures and pedicures. *Sigh.* Somehow it always seems so much easier when it's other people being the ladies of leisure.

Yes, it's my fourth day off work and I'm bored. Bored, bored, bored.

Yawnnnn...

The mind works in mysterious ways. Or rather, people are just weird. Or plain blind.

Whatever it is, Terry Pratchett made the right observation when he wrote in one of his books that people will only see what they want to see. And if something they see defies all logic, whatever it is tends to become invisible in their eyes. Or something to that effect-la.

I can't believe nobody realised I had a haircut. I mean, *hello*, my hair's short now, pretty obvious, no? Have I had long hair for so long that people take it forgranted that my hair is long even when it's not long?

Here's an excerpt of a conversation I had with a friend at lunch today:

S: Jo, I don't think you should cut your hair. Leave it long. It's nice long.
Me: Err. But I just cut it.
S: Huh?! Oh. Ya, you did ah? Hehehe. Oops.

Hmm.

Maybe I just hang out with unobservant people. *shrug*.

So, yesterday was my first day off work. Pretty eventful I must say.

Went and got a hair cut. Yes, I did. Finally. Ack. My hair's short now. *bawls* I'm soooo not used to it. Not that it's really short. But still, it's short. Sigh. Oh well, the plus sides are that it'll dry a lot faster now and hopefully I'll lose less hair than before.

Anyway, I realised how difficult it is, at this time and age, to find empty VHS tapes. Geesh. Don't people use video recorders anymore? I practically had to go to 5 different shops before I came across one that sold them. Then the price hit me. Ack. Either I've never bought empty VHS tapes before or I've forgotten how much they cost or I was ripped off. RM10.90 for a 180-minute tape?! Had intially planned to buy 6. Settled for 3 first. Going to make my brother buy the rest I reckon. Hey, it's buffy. He's a fan. We should share the cost. Wonderful logic and argument there, yes.

Watched Hot Chick and So Close too. One was a totally senseless movie which (unless I've totally loss my sense of humour) wasn't funny at all (a terrible disappointment). But I guess one isn't really looking for intelligent what-nots on a lazy friday afternoon. Then there was So Close. This movie is every guy's wet dream I think. Which tends to get a bit disturbing when it's my wet dream as well. Karen Mok. Whoa. I wish I had played Vicki Zhao's role. Bwhahahhaaha.

It was also karaoke night tonight. Cool! I haven't had so much fun for so long! My friend and I polished off half a bottle of gin (which she and her girlfriend had opened like 6 months ago. Hey, if we didn't finish it, they would have forfeited the bottle. We practically had our arms twisted! Ha!) We sang everything. From rock to jazz to pop! Wooohoooo! Surprising that I'm still pretty sober. Hehehe.

And as I was driving back home, I saw a black Ford Laser in front of me. All of a sudden, I'm reminded of 'him'. Dunno why really. Cos he drives a Mazda 323. Sigh. Must be the alcohol. I mean, why the hell am I still thinking about him? It's not that I like him. Do I? No. We have absolutely nothing in common. We can't even hold a proper conversation. There's just nothing to talk about. I think I'm just in love with his height. I can't help it. I just have this inexplicable fetish for tall men. And when he stands at 6 foot 2, my mind tends to get pretty fuzzy. Geesh. I need to take another cold shower. There is no way I'm going to go to bed thinking about him.

I am terribly pissed off.

I just got back (and no, it isn't from a bout of partying). I just got back. From work. Yes. %@#$&!^@*#!&@(#&!@#(!&%@#&!@#. What day is it? What time is it? 2 bloody 30 in the morning on the 1st of May. Labour Day. Yea, right. I bloody laboured the whole day up until Labour Day. What else? Oh. Today, no wait, it is already past midnight, so, yesterday was supposed to be my last day at work too. So what the hell was I doing at work till 2 bloody am?! I have absolutely no freaking idea. A total waste of time if you ask me. They want me to check copy and sign off on the artworks before they go out but hello, they seemed to have forgotten one huge point. What the freaking hell am I supposed to check when the copy has been changed kazillion times without my knowledge (you have the client playing copywriter and all)?! Oh, and then you have servicing running to you to ask you to come up with copy for something the client wants to add, which of course the client has already 'written' but wants me to phrase it in a better way. So I do. But when I look at what they put on the artwork, it's the client's copy. Why even bother to ask for my 'help' when you're going to bloody disregard it and use the client's copy instead? Geesh. *rolls eyes*

Anyway, I packed my bags and just left. The artworks aren't ready yet but it's no longer any concern of mine. Like I told them, since I didn't write 3/4 of the copy (changes after changes after changes, written of course, by the clients themselves), I shouldn't be signing off on the artwork. After all, I have absolutely no clue what the new copy are and what changes have been made, because they never bothered to inform the copywriter.

On a brighter note, I went on a DVD/VCD shopping spree during lunch today. Bought Hot Chick, Chicago, Spirited Away, So Close and taa daa (!) Buffy Season 1 DVD Set! Okay, me bad for encouraging piracy and buying pirated copies, but heck, when the quality's as good as the original at only 1/4 of the price, economics win over ethics. Looks like I'll be pretty busy vege-ing in front of the TV the next couple of days *grin*.

It's a public holiday tomorrow (oops, today) and I'm off work until something else comes along. Yay! So going to go shopping on Friday. Got to get blank VHS tapes to prepare for Buffy Season 6 which starts on May 8! And I feel like chopping off my hair too. I'm losing way too much and have this phobia that I might become bald (I look awful bald). Thing is, I don't know if I'm losing hair because of this condition I have or because it's just long and heavy. Sigh. Haven't decided. Can't decide.

To borrow a line from Mel Hamlet: to cut or not to cut, that is the question.
