Boy, only a week has passed in my new work place and I feel that I've already been there too long. LOL.
I'm not really complaining, really. Not complaining.
It's different. Not as though I didn't expect it, I guess. Knew there was going to be more work, knew there wasn't going to be anymore going home at 6pm. So far, all my 'knews' have been spot on. No more taking the back seat and hoping no one will notice me. Sigh. I can understand now why some people are just contented being where they are in their careers, without wanting to be promoted or given more responsibilities. Being a senior team is no fun...in the sense that we get pulled into everything, we are involved in almost every single job, and we have to 'lead' by example.
I'd rather follow. I'm quite contented doing that. Just tell me what to do. Pay me, and I'll do it. Let someone else be the boss. It's less work and I can go hide in the corner whenever I want.
Lazy?
I suppose, in a way.
I'm the sort who likes/wants to make a distinction between work and play. Come 6pm, I expect it to be play (yea, in all my working life, I've yet to learn...) After 6, it's my time. No work. No having to think about work. And best, not having to see/go out/hang out with workmates. Separate. Work is work. Life is life. And work does not equal life.
I don't know how some people do it. It seems that they're forever working. They hang around in the office till late (very late), they take work home, they work on weekends etc. Their lives revolve around work.
I'd go crazy. If I have to work over a weekend, I'm already complaining and pulling a long face. These people give up their weekends every week (and sometimes willingly!) Mad. Psycho.
Anyway, I'm ranting. Not complaining, no. Just ranting. There's a difference...well, to me, there is.
Come tomorrow, we have exactly 14 days to put together a pitch presentation for a new account. And that's 14 days including the weekends. Basically, starting this week, I'll be saying bye-bye to my weekends till Christmas.
On a brighter note though, I've done my Christmas shopping! Well, most of it...Yea, yea, I'm kiasu.
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire
Jack Frost nipping at your nose
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir
And folks dressed up like Eskimos
Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe
help to make the season bright
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow
Will find it hard to sleep tonight
They know that Santas on his way
Hes loaded lots of toys and goodies
On his sleigh
And evry mothers
Child is gonna spy to see if
Reindeer really know how to fly
And so, Im offering this
Simple phrase
To kids from one to ninety-two
Altho its been said many times
Many ways; Merry Christmas to you
