Happy ending

if only all endings are like those on tv.

where everybody ends up with somebody. the girl gets the boy she wants. the boy gets the girl he wants. everybody's happy and contented.

if only.

in a couple of hours, it won't be 2005 anymore. one has to get used to writing '2006' then. i wonder how many bad cheques will be written because one forgets or has been so used to writing '2005'.

i would like to look back and say it was a good year. but was it really? then again, it doesn't really matter. what's past is past, what's done is done. regrets or not, whatever, in a couple of hours, we all start anew.

my wish is that 2006 will be a much more fulfilling year, with less unhappiness and more good sex and booze. oh, and one more thing: that everybody will get to live out his/her tv happy ending.

Happy New Year.

Repeat *

你是我未翻開那部漫畫書
你是我未去學那種拉丁舞
你是我未打開那份成績通知單
你是我未偶遇那些櫻花雪
任結局再好 但滿懷期盼比得到可愛

I asked.

and i got my answer.

my ex does have a current. it came from the horse's mouth.

i can act like it doesn't matter. i can act like i don't care. i can act. i've always been good at that.

On again!

Online, that is.

After having been off for about two days. At first i thought it was because i hadn't paid my broadband subscription for two months (which i rushed out to do once i discovered i was offline) but in the end it was just my stupid modem f-ing up as usual.

Nothing a rebooting (if only that was literal) of the modem wouldn't fix and here i am back again!

It's weird though. Those two days offline, i had so many things i wanted to blog about but couldn't because well, i was offline. And now, when i'm back on again, i can't be bothered to blog about whatever it is anymore. I guess that's the thing about diaries. you want to put things down immediately. and when you don't/can't, you lose that desire to do so.

anyway, in a quick condensed version of the things i wanted to put down (before i lose the desire to condense it too...):

Murakami's Kafka on the Shore
I haven't been able to put down this book since i started reading it. not that i've been able to understand murakami's books. i've read a few and each time i come away with absolutely no conclusion. the guy is just too deep for me. but there's just something about him that draws me back each time (even though i don't understand his books). Ya, i'm weird. no wait, he's weird. all his characters are weird. maybe that's why i'm drawn towards them. Hahaha.

Charlene Choi
it's not good that the women whom i find attractive are getting younger and younger. but ah sa is such a cutesy pie and full of energy. it was so much fun watching her in the at17 x twins music is live concert. at17 were also a joy to watch. can't say the same for gillian chung though.

at17
Listening to or reading the lyrics of some of their new songs and past songs, i can't help but think that maybe they have already come out. hahaha. i just love throwing wild (maybe not so) theories into the air.

Counter service
Can someone explain to me why is it that banks/post offices/etc have like 10-12 counters but only open like 3-4 at any one time? what's the point of having so many counters when you're not going to use them? it's fricking irksome to the customer (moi) to see so many counters that could have been serving people so that the queue would move faster, totally empty!

Does my ex have a current or not?
why does it bother me so much? why why why? i need to get over it.

In a black & white mood

This new template explains it all.

Since it's almost the new year, it seemed apt for a change. In other words, yea, i was bored with my previous one.

it's plain. it's simple. there's not much colour. it sucks to look at in Internet Explorer. but it looks perfectly fine on Safari and Firefox.

i like it.

Tasting the vinegar

The thing is, i shouldn't be.

I mean, after all, we are over. And I was the one who asked for it. Whatever you make out of your life after shouldn't be any of my concern, right? So why the hell does the heart feel a certain tugging each time I find out you're with another? Actually, how many others have there been since? Why does it matter to me? Why is it when I hear you've broken up again, I seem to feel better?

But i know i don't want to get back together again. I think we've both decided that we're better off as friends. It's just...I guess I miss the attention you used to shower on me, I miss the fact that you were there for me to cuddle up to. The thought that I'm no longer the person you wish to cuddle up to now is just a bit sour.

Damn, I sound like such a selfish bitch.

Merry Christmas.
Feliz navidad.
Good tidings and blessings to all.

Finally got my hocc t-shirts, lipstick, at17 newest album and the at17xtwins music is live CD and DVD. Merry merry merry.

Oh. And i found out the other day that winter solstice is not the time we Chinese turn a year older. Everybody's second birthday is 'yan yat', which falls on one of the days of Chinese New Year. Which isn't too long from now. So there's still no escaping.

And since there's only another 6 days before the year is out, it's time for the annual music roundup. My ten favourite albums of the year in no order of preference and for HK music only:

Becoming Butterfly - Denise Ho

U87 - Eason Chan

Bian Bian Bian - at17

Evolution Theory - Candy Lo

Tat Ming Party - Tat Ming Pair

Star Track - Leo Ku

S/L - Sandy Lam

The Soundtrack of our Lives - Chet Lam

Everybody has a Secret - The Pancakes

Music is Live - at17 x Twins

Winter Solstice

The day when the sunshine is weakest and the daylight shortest.

No wonder it was mostly overcast today.

Supposedly one of the most important days in the Chinese calendar, a time for families to get together. Of course, my mum had totally forgotten. So had my aunt. It took a person of the younger generation (moi) to remind them. Anyway, since no one remembered, it turned out to be just a quiet dinner with half the family.

And oh yes, tong yuen. We had to have tong yuen. Thank goodness for my grand dad's maid (who was probably the only person in the entire household to remember and had bought some tong yuen a couple of days before). Yummy tong yuen. Which reminds me of 'lo por tong yuen' from the ah wong series. Tong yuen with mango filling. Mmmm. Wonder what it tastes like. Wonder if anyone here actually tried to duplicate it. Wonder if it's even possible to duplicate it.

Also, we all turn a year older today. Everyone. I guess that's why we're always a year older in Chinese years. We have birthdays twice a year.

Too bad if you're Chinese and hate getting older.

Happy birthday everyone!

6 days before Christmas

Another year is coming to an end.
How time flies.

Just as I thought I was going to be really broke this Christmas, a nice little windfall in the form of a 4-day contract comes my way. Though I have to say I must be really allergic to having to work in an office... but the money is always good to have. Especially when the bank account is quickly drying up.

So, what do I want for Christmas?

I'm really coveting the 12" iBook. It's nice to have and it allows me to do my work anywhere rather than me having to sit at home on this machine whenever I need to get some copy typed out. But at about RM4,000 per machine, it's a luxury at this point in time. Who'll be my Santa then?

Gawd I'm broke

So many things to buy.
So many holidays to go for.
But no money, money, money.
Can die.
